At Mindful Sports, we define mindfulness as “noticing what is outside of you, what is inside of you, and being okay with what you notice.” We teach mindfulness by starting on the outside, with sensory observational activities such as mindful seeing and listening. We show children how the breath is both outside of them and inside of them, the bridge between what surrounds us and our inner worlds. We then help kids with mindful body awareness and basic awareness of feelings. Gratitude and mindful leadership are our last pillars, helping kids understand the importance of being thankful and how to use their mindfulness skills in a leadership setting.
